Born to run? 5,000 people will participate in Jersey City's first marathon. Hoboken officials advised drivers to avoid one area Sunday. JERSEY CITY, NJ — Jersey City's first marathon and half-marathon kick off this Sunday, April 23, at 7 a.m., rain or shine. The marathon will be a 2024 Boston Marathon qualifying event. The event will cause some re-routing of traffic in Jersey City, which could affect surrounding areas, particularly southwest Hoboken. More than 5,000 runners will participate, the website says.
